2. Application

Mainly used as dye and drug intermediates, dye industry used to produce acid medium peach 3BM. This product has the chemical properties of resorcinol and salicylic acid, and is also used as a chemical reagent colorimetric determination of iron, titanium and other elements. Also used as a bactericide.

3. production method

1. Resorcinol carboxylation method: Resorcinol, potassium bicarbonate and enough water are first added to the reaction bottle, heated in a water bath for 4h, and then heated on a direct fire for 30min to make it boil, during which carbon dioxide is introduced. After the reaction, extract with ether to remove the unreacted resorcinol, the resulting aqueous solution was acidified with concentrated hydrochloric acid, cooled to 0ºC with water, filtered and washed to get crude product, recrystallized by boiling water to get the finished product.

 

2, 3-hydroxyphenol carboxylation method in the presence of a mixture of potassium bicarbonate and sodium bicarbonate, 3-hydroxyphenol and carbon dioxide reaction at 110ºC for 3h, the yield of 2, 4-dihydroxybenzoic acid, 99.7%.
