1: used as pesticide and pharmaceutical intermediates 2: 2, 6-dihydroxy benzoic acid is herbicide dipyrioxyl ether, pyrioxyl sulfide and pyrioxyl gram, pyrioxyl ether and other intermediates.

Method one: The preparation method is to dissolve resorcinol in ethanol, add anhydrous potassium carbonate in the solution, heat to 140ºC, through carbon dioxide (carbon dioxide pressure 1400kPa) reaction for 4h, get 2, 6-dihydroxy benzoic acid and 2, 4-dihydroxy benzoic acid mixture (63.1%2, 6-dihydroxy benzoic acid, 36.9%2, 4-dihydroxy benzoic acid), adding water, then adding sulfuric acid to adjust the mixture solution pH=6, and then steam part of the mixture of ethanol and water, the residual at 98 ~ 100ºC reflux for 3h, decomposition of 2, 4-dihydroxy benzoic acid. When the decomposition reaction is carried out, the pH value of the reaction mixture is maintained at 6, and sulfuric acid is appropriately added to adjust the pH value. When the decomposition reaction is complete, then add sulfuric acid in the mixture to make the pH value reached 3, there is insoluble matter formation, filtration separation, and then continue to add sulfuric acid in the filtrate to make the pH value reached 1, cooling to 5ºC, the formation of 2, 6-dihydroxybenzoic acid crystallization, filtration, crystallization, washing with water, drying at 70ºC, the finished product.
